Laura Thiessen (she/her) is a self-taught analog collage artist based in Berkeley, CA, who uses vintage books and magazines to create surreal and dreamlike words of art. Her work centers on the feminine experience, exploring sexuality, body autonomy, infertility, pregnancy loss, mental illness, and grief, often with a healthy dose of humor and irreverence. She is inspired by the beauty of process, the tension between human culture and the natural world, stream-of-consciousness creation, and the strange places where the profound meets the absurd.
